Athena 100mm Forged Piston Kit for Big Bore Cylinders
This Athena forged racing piston is engineered for Athena Big Bore cylinder kits, featuring a bore diameter of 99.96mm. Crafted from a special high-performance aluminum alloy with a high silicon content, these pistons offer enhanced reliability, resistance, and excellent performance compared to Original Equipment (OE) pistons. The advanced manufacturing process utilizes cutting-edge CNC machining tools, ensuring dimensional tolerances of less than 0.01 mm. The piston's perfectly smooth profile promotes a regular flow and ideal flame propagation.
Some piston skirts are treated with a molybdenum disulfide coating applied by screen printing. This treatment further reduces friction, enhancing both performance and durability. Athena engineers develop advanced technical solutions and maintain the highest quality standards, meeting or exceeding OE production requirements for optimal performance and reliability.
Each piston is meticulously engineered in Italy by the Athena R&D department. They undergo rigorous testing on engine dynamometer benches under progressive stress loads and are validated on the track in the most extreme conditions to ensure their performance. This piston kit includes the piston, pin, circlips, and piston rings. All components are replaceable and interchangeable.
The included piston rings are produced in Japan with wear-resistant coatings (PVD or chromium nitride) to increase retention and durability. These rings perfectly adapt to the cylinder liner even under low tangential load, ensuring reduced friction with the cylinder for higher performance.
