FULL DESCRIPTION

Oil Plug Thread Repair Kit M20 from M18

This comprehensive kit is designed to repair damaged oil drain plug threads, allowing for a slightly larger thread size and the installation of a new drain plug and washer. It is ideal for use on oil pans, transmissions, and differential drain plug threads.

Key Features:

  • Effectively repairs damaged threads on oil pans, transmissions, and differentials.
  • Allows for the installation of a new drain plug and washer after thread repair.
  • Provides excellent value for money.
  • High-quality replacement part.

Package Contents:

  • 6 x M20x1.50 Drain Plugs
  • 6 x M20 Sealing Washers
  • 1 x M20x1.50 Threading Tap

Instructions for Use:

  1. Determine the original thread size of the damaged oil pan plug by measuring its diameter.
  2. Select the next size sump plug. For example, if the original plug's diameter is 12mm, use a 13mm plug.
  3. Match the thread pitch. If the original thread is 1.25, use a plug with a 13mm x 1.25 thread.
  4. Apply clean shaft or bearing grease to the threads of the plug.
  5. Use a suitable drive head to screw the plug into the oil pan.
  6. To cut the thread, turn clockwise slowly, using a 1/4 turn reverse motion (counter-clockwise) to create a full thread.
  7. Once the thread is cut, remove the tap and clean it thoroughly.
  8. Add oil to the engine and plug the oil pan to flush out any metal debris that may have entered the engine.
  9. Install a suitable new oil pan plug with a new copper gasket and torque to the vehicle's specifications.
