Oil Plug Thread Repair Kit M15 from M14

This comprehensive kit is designed to effectively repair damaged drain plug threads in oil pans, transmissions, and differentials. It allows you to re-tap existing threads to a slightly larger diameter and install a new, properly sized drain plug and washer.

Key Features:

  • Enables repair of stripped or damaged drain plug threads.
  • Installs a new, larger thread size to restore a secure seal.
  • Ideal for use on oil pans, transmissions, and differentials.
  • Provides a cost-effective solution compared to replacing entire components.
  • High-quality replacement part with a satisfaction guarantee.

Package Contents:

  • 6 x M15x1.50 Drain Plugs
  • 6 x M15 Sealing Washers
  • 1 x M15x1.50 Threading Tap

Instructions for Use:

  1. Determine the original thread size of the old oil pan plug by measuring its diameter.
  2. Select the next size sump plug; for example, if the original plug is 14mm in diameter, use a 15mm plug.
  3. Verify the thread pitch of the original plug and select a replacement plug with the same pitch (e.g., if the original thread is 1.50, use a 14mm x 1.50 plug).
  4. Apply clean shaft or bearing grease to the threads of the tap.
  5. Using a suitable drive tool, carefully screw the tap into the oil pan to cut new threads.
  6. To create a full thread, turn the tap clockwise to cut, then reverse approximately 1/4 turn counter-clockwise to break the chip. Repeat this process.
  7. After cutting the threads, remove the tap and clean the area thoroughly.
  8. Add oil to the engine and install a temporary plug in the oil pan to flush out any metal debris that may have entered the engine.
  9. Install a new oil pan plug with a new copper gasket and torque to the vehicle's specifications.

Note: Always ensure you are ordering the correct part. If unsure, consult a professional for installation.
