Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex silicon aluminium alloys (12%, 18%, or 21% silicon). Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, then refined with a heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities for the Molybdenum Coating, extending durability. This cylinder bore is 53.970mm with a 0.8mm ring and Nikasil coating.
