Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a high-tech heat treatment with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools, allowing for specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, and also feature a new all-over Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and Molybdenum Coating durability.
