Cagiva Cross 250 1985-1991 Grade E/F 69.970mm
Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a high-tech heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. Vertex has also introduced a new Phosphate Coating with increased hardness and light surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability. This piston is 69.970mm.

FULL DESCRIPTION
Vertex High-Performance Replacement Piston
Enhance the performance and longevity of your engine with this premium replacement piston from Vertex. Designed for demanding applications, this component is engineered to meet rigorous standards, ensuring optimal operation and reliability for your motorcycle.
Advanced Material Composition
Vertex pistons are manufactured using exotic Low-Ex (low expansion) aluminum alloys charged with high-grade silicon content. This specific alloy composition provides excellent thermal stability and strength, minimizing expansion under high heat conditions to maintain precise clearances within the cylinder.
Cutting-Edge Manufacturing
Every piston is produced using either gravity casting or hydraulic forging processes. The structural integrity of the material is further refined through a state-of-the-art heat treatment process involving solubilization and water quenching. CNC machining and diamond tooling ensure that every piston meets exact specifications with superior surface finishes.
Superior Coating Technology
To maximize durability and performance, this piston features dual-layer coating technology:
- Molybdenum Bisulphite Coating: A specialized black coating applied to assist during the break-in process and reduce internal engine friction.
- Phosphate Coating: Borrowed from Formula One engineering, this layer provides a slight increase in hardness and surface porosity. This enhances the adhesion of the Molybdenum coating, effectively doubling its durability throughout the life of the piston.
Quality Assurance
Every Vertex piston undergoes a comprehensive manual and automatic quality control inspection. By choosing Vertex, you are selecting a component built with the latest industry technology to ensure peak performance and long-lasting durability.
