Yamaha has issued a service bulletin concerning fuel pumps on certainYFM450 and YFM700 models.
A fuel pump may appear faulty when the issue actually comes from the wiring harness.
Thenegative battery lead harness can become loose, dirty or corroded due to water ingress.
The minus lead coupler sits near theleft rear fender.
Before reporting a suspected faulty fuel pump, check the wiring harness and coupler carefully.
Clean, repair or replace the affected wiring where necessary. A wiring fault can prevent the fuel pump from operating correctly.
Please check yourexact Yamaha model, year and OEM number before ordering. Also inspect the wiring harness before replacing the fuel pump.
