Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. The pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quenching in hot water. Machining is done using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools for specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed from Formula One engine technology, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability compared to the Molybdenum Coating. This piston has a compression ratio of 15.1:1 and a bore of 87.97mm.
