Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% Silicon depending on the application. They are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite for break-in and reduced friction. They also feature a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and enhanced Molybdenum Coating adhesion, doubling coating durability. This is a Grade B, 46.95mm, 12-degree piston for VHM.
