Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys, with silicon content ranging from 12% to 21% depending on the application. The manufacturing process involves either gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a high-tech heat treatment in an automatic implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed following Formula One engine advancements, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is 46.95mm with a flat top.
