Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex Silicon aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. These pistons are produced using either gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes. The material structure is refined using advanced heat treatment in an automatic implant with solubilization by quenching in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes for the final application. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating with increased hardness and light surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability. This piston is a Grade A, 53.93mm single ring race piston.
