Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys, available in silicon concentrations of 12%, 18%, or 21% depending on the application. Pistons are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a high-tech heat treatment process. Machining is performed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness and improved Molybdenum Coating adhesion for enhanced durability. This piston is a single ring, race piston with a 53.98mm bore.

High-Performance Vertex Race Piston

The Vertex Grade D Race Piston is engineered for maximum performance and durability under racing conditions. Utilizing high-grade Low-Ex (low expansion) aluminium alloys, these pistons are manufactured through advanced gravity casting or hydraulic forging processes. Every unit undergoes precision heat treatment to refine the material structure, ensuring optimal strength and reliability for demanding engine environments.

Advanced Manufacturing and Design

Vertex employs cutting-edge CNC machining and diamond tooling to achieve precise tolerances and specific surface finishes tailored to high-performance applications. To maximize longevity and efficiency, each piston features a specialized Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating, which reduces internal friction and assists during the critical break-in period.

Durable Phosphate Coating

Following modern developments in Formula One technology, this piston incorporates a high-durability Phosphate coating. This treatment offers a slight increase in surface hardness and creates a light surface porosity, which significantly improves the adhesion of the Molybdenum coating. This dual-layer approach effectively doubles the durability of the piston surface, allowing it to withstand rigorous use.
