Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging and refined through a hi-tech heat treatment process with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes a rigorous manual and automatic quality control process. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new, all-over Phosphate Coating has also been introduced, offering increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities of the Molybdenum Coating, extending durability. This piston has a bore size of 46.96mm and includes twin rings.
