Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. They are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment. Machining is done with CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion for the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. This piston has a 76.96mm standard bore and 13.2:1 compression ratio.
