Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex Silicon aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a hi-tech heat treatment process. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes for each application. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston has a bore of 76.95mm, standard compression, and a 13.2:1 compression ratio.
