Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes and refined through a heat treatment process. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools for specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new phosphate coating offers increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion, doubling coating durability. This piston is 76.95mm with a 14.3:1 compression ratio.
