Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content, depending on the application. These pistons are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using CNC machines and diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed from Formula One engine technology, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability for the Molybdenum Coating. This piston has a bore of 77.95mm and a compression ratio of 15.05:1.
