Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is done with CNC machines and diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a special black Molybdenum Bisulphite coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed from Formula One engine technology, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is 95.96mm with a 13.6:1 high compression ratio.
