Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, then refined through a high-tech heat treatment process. Machining is done with the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, similar to that used in Formula One, increases hardness and surface porosity for superior Molybdenum Coating adhesion and durability. This piston is Grade C, has a 95.98mm bore, and a 13.6:1 compression ratio.
