Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. The pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes a manual and automatic quality control process. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, similar to that used in Formula One engines, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This product is a Grade A, 95.96mm standard compression piston with a 12.5:1 compression ratio.
