Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon, depending on the application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process. Machining is done with CNC machines and diamond tools for specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, and a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, porosity, and enhanced coating durability. This piston is Grade C, 95.98mm, with a 13:1 high compression ratio.
