Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon depending on the application. These pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, with material structure refined through a hi-tech Heat Treatment process in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, allowing for specific surface finishes based on the piston's final application. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new, all over Phosphate Coating has been introduced, offering increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and double the durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston has a 95.98mm bore and a 13.0:1 compression ratio.
