KTM SX 105 2004-2017 GRADE B 51.96mm
Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, similar to Formula One engine developments, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. This piston is 51.96mm in diameter and is Grade B.
