Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with hot water quenching. Machining is performed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed following Formula One engine advancements, offers increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. Piston size is 51.97mm, Grade C.
