Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys, silicon charged at 12%, 18%, or 21% depending on application. Processes include gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is done using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability compared to the Molybdenum Coating. This is a Grade C 53.97mm single ring piston.

The manufacturing process utilizes state-of-the-art CNC machinery and diamond-tipped tooling to achieve exacting tolerances and specific surface finishes. To further enhance performance and longevity, this piston features a dual-layer coating system:

  • Molybdenum Bisulphite Coating: A high-performance black coating designed to reduce friction during operation and assist significantly during the initial piston break-in period.
  • Phosphate Coating: Inspired by Formula One engine technology, this layer provides a slight increase in surface hardness and creates a light porosity that ensures superior adhesion of the Molybdenum coating, effectively doubling its durability.
