Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a heat treatment process involving solubilization by quenching in hot water. Machining is done using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is a size C at 47.96mm.
