Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is GRADE D and 66.36mm with a single ring.

FULL DESCRIPTION

Vertex Grade D Single Ring Piston

Engineered for precision and performance, the Vertex Grade D single ring piston is designed to meet the rigorous demands of high-performance engines. Manufactured using advanced metallurgical techniques, this piston offers superior durability and reliability under extreme operating conditions.

Advanced Material Construction

Vertex utilizes high-quality Low-Ex (low expansion) aluminum alloys with varied silicon content, specifically selected to match the application requirements. The manufacturing process involves either gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a state of the art heat treatment cycle. This process refines the material structure to ensure maximum strength and thermal resistance.

Precision Engineering and Coatings

Each piston is machined using high-precision CNC technology and diamond tooling to achieve exact surface finishes. To further enhance performance and longevity, the piston features two layers of protective coating:

  • Molybdenum Bisulphite Coating: A specialized black coating that facilitates a smooth break-in period and significantly reduces friction within the cylinder.
  • Phosphate Coating: Borrowing from Formula One engine technology, the all-over phosphate coating provides increased surface hardness and light porosity. This improves the adhesion of the Molybdenum coating, doubling the durability of the protective layer.

Key Features

  • Grade D sizing with a 66.36mm diameter for precise engine clearance.
  • Single ring design optimized for high-revving performance.
  • Rigorous manual and automatic quality control checks during production.
  • Reduced friction profiles to maintain engine power and fuel efficiency.
  • High thermal stability to prevent deformation under heavy loads.
