Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon depending on the application. The pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines, software, and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. They also include a new Phosphate Coating, offering increased hardness, surface porosity, and enhanced Molybdenum Coating adhesion for twice the durability. This piston has a 66.25mm bore size and is Grade B.

FULL DESCRIPTION

Vertex High Performance 66.25mm Piston

Enhance the performance and longevity of your engine with this precision-engineered Vertex piston. Designed for riders who demand reliability and power, Vertex utilizes advanced metallurgy and state of the art manufacturing processes to ensure every component meets rigorous performance standards.

Advanced Material Technology

Each piston is crafted from premium Low-Ex (low expansion) aluminium alloys, charged with high concentrations of silicon to manage thermal expansion effectively under extreme operating conditions. These pistons undergo a sophisticated heat treatment process, including solubilization and water quenching, which refines the internal material structure for maximum durability.

Precision Engineering and Finishing

The manufacturing process employs precision CNC machining and diamond tooling to achieve exact surface finishes tailored for specific engine demands. This meticulous attention to detail ensures optimal fitment and consistent performance throughout the service life of the piston.

Superior Coating Systems

To ensure smooth operation from the very first start, this piston features a specialized Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating. This coating serves two vital purposes: it assists during the initial break in period and significantly reduces friction while the piston operates within the cylinder. Furthermore, the inclusion of an advanced phosphate coating enhances surface hardness and porosity, providing superior adhesion for the Molybdenum layer and doubling the overall durability of the coating.
