Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex silicon aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are produced via gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by hot water quench. Machining is performed on the latest CNC machines and software using diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating, following Formula One engine developments, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior Molybdenum Coating adhesion, doubling coating durability. This is a +1.00mm oversize 54.95mm single ring piston.
