Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex (low expansion) Silicon aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using either gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, then heat-treated using an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. This heat treatment process uses advanced technology for these aluminum alloys. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, allowing for specific surface finishes based on the piston's final application. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction within the cylinder. A new all-over Phosphate Coating has been introduced, offering increased hardness and light surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is twin ring and 0.50mm oversize at 68.45mm.
