Granville Rust Converter is a heavy-duty, water-based co-polymer latex combined with organic chelating agents designed for application to corroded ferrous substrates. It converts rust into a stable organic iron complex, forming an impermeable barrier against oxygen and moisture to prevent further corrosion. This product has a low order of toxicity and does not contain phosphoric acid or lead. It exhibits excellent resistance to acid and alkali splashes, with a film that recovers from contact with aliphatic or aromatic solvents. Recommended applications include automotive shells and chassis, ships ballast tanks, steel bridges, and more. For use, wire brush the substrate to remove loose material, abrade high peaks, and wash with detergent and high-pressure water, leaving some rust for the chemical reaction. Stir thoroughly before use and apply a minimum of two coats by brush, spray, or roller to a wet film thickness of 60-90um per coat. Apply in temperatures of 5-30°C with humidity below 80%. Clean equipment with water; use lacquer thinner or aromatic solvent for dried coating. Thinning with de-mineralised water is possible up to 10%. Always wear protective gloves, clothing, and eye/face protection. In case of medical advice, have the container or label available. Keep out of reach of children and away from ignition sources. In case of skin contact, remove contaminated clothing and rinse with water. For eye contact, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes.

This powerful converter actively transforms existing rust into a stable, organic iron complex. As the applied layer dries, it creates a robust, impermeable barrier that seals out oxygen and moisture, effectively preventing further corrosion.

Directions for Use:
- Prepare the substrate by wire brushing to remove loose paint and rust.
- Abrade to remove high surface peaks, then wash with detergent to remove oil and grease.
- Clean surfaces with high-pressure water to remove detergent and corrosion salts. Note: Do not remove all traces of rust, as its presence is essential for the chemical reaction.
- Stir the product thoroughly before use. Decant the required amount into a non-metallic container.
- Apply a minimum of two coats by brush, roller, or spray to achieve a wet film thickness of 60-90um per coat (20-30um dry film thickness).
- Brush application: Recommended for the first coat on heavily rusted surfaces to ensure penetration.
- Roller application: Use a short nap roller and apply evenly. Stripe coat edges by brush if necessary.
- Spray application: Suitable for air-assisted or airless spray techniques.
Atmospheric Conditions:
- External: Ideal air temperature is 5-30°C. Avoid application if relative humidity exceeds 80% or if there is a risk of rain or condensation during drying.
- Internal: Ensure adequate air movement to remove excess moisture.
Cleaning: Immerse application tools in clean water during breaks to prevent drying. Clean equipment with water before the product dries. Dried coating can be removed using lacquer thinner or aromatic solvent.
Thinning: If necessary, use de-mineralised water (no more than 10%). For compatibility testing with a primer, use a white spirit-based product on a small test area.
