Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. The pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a high-tech heat treatment process. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. The pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex has also introduced a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is Grade A, 87.96mm STD Compression with a 14.0:1 ratio.
