Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, then heat-treated in an automatic implant with solubilization by quenching in hot water. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines, software, and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is 80.97mm with a 14.4:1 compression ratio.
