Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, with material structure refined by heat treatment in an automatic implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities to the Molybdenum Coating, doubling coating durability. This is a single ring, replica piston with a 53.93mm bore.
