Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes and refined with a high-tech heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and reduced friction. A new, all over Phosphate Coating has been introduced, offering increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is +1.1mm oversize at 67.45mm and features twin rings.
