Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. They are made using either gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a high-tech heat treatment process in an automatic HT implant with hot water solubilization. Machining is completed using advanced CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion, doubling the coating's durability.
