Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content. The manufacturing process includes gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment with a hot water quench. Machining is performed using CNC machines and diamond tools, allowing for specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, and a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston has a bore of 76.96mm. For 2006-2008 models, it offers high compression of 13.5:1. For 2009 models, it offers standard compression of 13.2:1.
