Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex silicon charged aluminium alloys. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and software, with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and reduced friction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness and superior adhesion qualities of the Molybdenum Coating, extending durability. This is a Grade A, 76.95mm high compression piston with a 13.9:1 ratio.
