Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex silicon charged aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, with material structure refined through a high-tech heat treatment process. Machining is done using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid in break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating for extended durability. This is a high compression piston with a 13.9:1 ratio and a 76.96mm bore.
