Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging and refined with a hi-tech heat treatment process involving solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is done with the latest CNC machines and diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, similar to Formula One engine developments, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability for the Molybdenum Coating. This piston has a bore of 77.95mm and a compression ratio of 14.2:1.
