Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content, depending on the application. Pistons are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging. The material structure is refined through a high-tech heat treatment process in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex has introduced a new Phosphate Coating with increased hardness and light surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability.
