KTM SX / EXC 125 1998-2000 GRADE A 54.19mm
Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon, depending on the application. They are produced via gravity cast or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process using an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines, software, and diamond tools, allowing for specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A newer Phosphate Coating, developed following Formula One engine advancements, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion for enhanced coating durability.
