KTM SX / GS 250 1990-1994 GRADE C 67.46mm TWIN RING PISTON
Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes. The material structure is refined using a high-tech heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is done using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating which increases hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability. This product is a Grade C 67.46mm twin ring piston.

FULL DESCRIPTION
Vertex Grade C Twin Ring Piston - 67.46mm
Engineered for precision and reliability, the Vertex Grade C Twin Ring Piston is a high-performance replacement component designed to meet the rigorous demands of two-stroke engine applications. Built with advanced materials and manufacturing techniques, this piston offers excellent durability and consistent performance on the track or the trail.
Advanced Manufacturing and Material Quality
Vertex pistons are constructed using specialized Low-Ex (low expansion) aluminum alloys with varied silicon content tailored to the specific application. These pistons undergo a gravity cast or hydraulic forging process, followed by state-of-the-art heat treatment in automated implants. This precise solubilization and quenching process ensures a refined material structure that delivers superior strength and heat resistance.
Precision Engineering and Coatings
Each piston is machined using high-end CNC equipment and diamond tooling, allowing for specific surface finishes that optimize performance. To further enhance longevity and efficiency, these pistons feature a multi-layer coating system:
- Molybdenum Bisulphite Coating: A black friction-reducing layer that assists during the critical engine break-in period and minimizes drag during operation.
- Phosphate Coating: Drawing inspiration from Formula One technology, this all-over surface treatment provides increased hardness and slight surface porosity. This allows for superior adhesion of the Molybdenum coating, effectively doubling its durability.
