Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, with material structure refined by a hi-tech heat treatment process. Machining is completed using CNC machines, software, and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and Molybdenum Coating durability. This piston is 95.46mm and standard compression.
