Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content. They are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a high-tech heat treatment with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating, inspired by Formula One engines, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities for the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. This piston is 66.95mm and features twin rings.
