Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content. They are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process. Machining is done with CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, and some also include a Phosphate Coating for increased hardness and durability.
