Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by heat treatment. Machining is done using CNC machines and diamond tools for specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, or a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and enhanced durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This is a Grade B piston with a bore of 76.96mm and a compression ratio of 13.9:1.
