Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. They are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with hot water quenching. This process refines the material structure. The pistons are machined using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes for different applications. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed following Formula One engine advancements, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability for the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is 95.97mm with a 12.9:1 high compression ratio.
