Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by heat treatment. Machining is performed with the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous quality control. The pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities, doubling the Molybdenum Coating's durability. This piston is Grade D with a 64.7mm bore size.
